Perception is reality

 I like Joe Biden for I think he is a really decent man who cares a lot about his country. And no one can deny that he has done a remarkable job in building back the economy of the USA after the devastation of covid.

In fact, I can say without any fear of contradiction, that based on his performance over the past four years, Joe Biden can go out in an unprecedented shower of glory.

The fact is though, like every human being who ever visited the planet, he is getting old and it shows clearly every day.

When he appeared at the press conference to address the special council's report into him having classified documents, despite being clearly energised by the anger he felt because the report described him as 'an elderly man with poor memory" he definitely looked and sounded shaky.

So the democrats can scream and shout as much as they like about this characterization being false, unfair whatever, and give personal testimonials of how sharp he is, he just looks shaky!

 His staff knows that too and that's why he is shielded from press conferences etc. 

No, Trump cannot be compared to Biden for he is a criminal, a cad, a man who cares only about himself. 

Also, he too is an elderly man with poor memory, and apart from the MAGA crowd, no one anywhere in the world, would want to see back as the President of the most powerful country in the world.

But that does not change the fact that Biden clearly does not appear to be able to lead the country for another four years and Kamla Harris gives no one any comfort as the hier apparent!

Its not too late to honor Joe and send him off into the sunset with a gold medal for what he has done for his country, for he deserves every honor for public service and personal sacrifice.

However, the Democratic Party urgently needs to wake up and face the fact that as far as voters are concerned, not only is perception is reality, but also, its now worse than only perception, as even the most dedicated Democrats can see him fading before their eyes.

The thought of a return by Trump is just too dangerous to even contemplate, so they need to stop procrastinating!

 

An American crisis

 America is having a serious governing crisis. The problem is, too many of its leaders appear beyond their level of competence but are still determined to hold on power.

According to Wikipedia, the latest age distribution in that country is as follows.;

0 – 14 years: 18.2%

15 – 24 years: 13.0%

25 – 54 years: 39.0%

55 – 64 years: 12.9%

65 years and over: 16.8%.

In other words, while the 65’s and older in that country, make up less than 20% of the population, it is that category that is making most of the decisions!

So, who is representing the majority in that country when what you most often see in Washington is a lot of shaky old people dominating the decision-making process?

I suppose that is what spurred presidential hopeful Nikki Haley to call for term limits and quip that ‘the senate is the most privileged nursing home in the nation.’ Newsweek put it more subtly, for according to them ‘the 118th United States Congress is older than any in history.’

The episode with Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell (who is 81) freezing up twice in a month, has opened the eyes of most voters to the problem.

Of course, having Diane Finestein (over 90) being pushed around in a wheel chair and clearly being so out of it that she has had to grant power of attorney to someone else, hasn’t helped matters.

Biden stumbling around mentally and physically as he deteriorates daily before our eyes, is the scariest omen though. Especially since he is determined to hang on to power despite polls showing that 69% of his own Democratic party members saying he is too old to run again.

Having Kamela Harris as next in line has not helped either for her approval rating is in the gutter at 29% according to the Los Angeles Times. Hunter Biden is not helping anything either!

 Biden is being extremely selfish as his determination to try and get a second term is just going to give the Republicans a big win.

Yes, he beat Trump before and is opining that he can do it again. But despite four criminal indictments against him, Trump is currently leading him in the polls.

Not among Republicans, but among Independents, according to an AP poll published in early September.

I will never be able to understand Americans, for as crazy as it seemed to the rest of the world, despite his reputation of being a one-man crime syndicate due his stealing funds from his foundation, scamming persons who went to his university, not paying small contractors who worked on his construction projects and being a self-confessed sexual predator etc. more than 70 million Americans voted for Trump in 2020. 

And he keeps soaring in the polls despite four criminal indictments.

On the other hand, very few Democrats are enthusiastic about Biden. That is sure sign that there will be a low turnout among Democrats. Not to mention how the public squabbles among leaders in solid democratic cities like New York and Chicago are playing out!

These are due to the economic pressures being put on such cities because of Biden’s failed immigration policies.

As president, Biden has done a reasonably good job but he needs to accept that he is just too old to be seeking a second term.

Further the Bidenomics which he touts, only leaves a bad taste in people’s mouths when they go to the supermarket and gas station! Look at the latest CNN poll too, ‘70% think things are going badly in the country!’

Biden needs to step down early to give someone young, capable and vibrant a chance to emerge in time to build a movement and raise funds for the 2024 election.

For as long as he insists that he is running again, no one in his party is willing to challenge him. So, the longer he hangs on to power, the more he digs a deep grave for the Democrats.

Even if his favorite opponent, Trump, does not make it to the elections, any energetic empty barrel in the Republican party can probably trounce him, for he comes across as old, out of it and wobbly.

Even beside even Mike Pence!

Give the democrats a chance Mr. Biden don’t let selfishness wipe out all the good you have achieved.

Lots of Dems are asking me, ' if not Biden, who?' How many of you ever heard of someone named Barak Obama before he challenged Hilary?

Nuff said.

The world is watching nervously, for what happens in the USA affects the entire planet.

Trump suffering from dementia!

 If ever there was a ‘Teflon don,’ it’s Donald Trump himself.

You know, a lot of us laughed when he declared in the 2016 campaign for president that he could kill a man on 5th Avenue and get away with it, but history has demonstrated that Trump knows his people. 

For while he has not actually killed anyone (that we know of), he has done just about everything else and gets away with it. 

He has used money that he collected for his foundation for his own use, refused to pay workmen and robbed those who enrolled in his Trump University, been an extreme racist, compromised the country's foreign policy with China after Ivanka received numerous copyrights from that country, used his expensive hotels to house secret service people guarding him at taxpayer's expense, is a super predator who had grabbed random women by their p*****, instigated an insurrection after trying to steal an election, tried to withhold funds from Ukraine unless they assisted him in dirty tricks for the 2020 elections and on and on. 

Name it and Trump has done it, but he retains unshakable support from most Christians and majority whites. 

I am watching this civil rape case brought by E. Jean Carrol with great interest.

Most likely she will not succeed but what has amazed me is how the media has virtually ignored his creeping dementia as revealed in this trial.  

As I said, he is covered in teflon, so while we all recognize that Biden is too old to run again, (Joan, my views: He is just too old! (joan-myviews.blogspot.com)  we often fail to point out that this also applies to Trump, as he is only four years younger than Biden and is far less mentally competent!

Where Trump's dementia surfaced dramatically again for the world to see, was in his deposition for this case. For, after claiming he didn't know his accuser, when he was shown a photo in which both she and he were quite clear, he misidentified his rape victim as his ex-wife Marla. 😅😅😅

In my book, this is clear evidence that his dementia is galloping!

He is just too old!

I find the Republican party totally abhorrent.

But that’s the not the worse thing, for the reality is they are not only hazardous to the American nation and democracy, but America has such international influence, that another Trump or similar madman, could cause world chaos.

So why is it that the Democrats seem so determined to give them the presidency in 2024? For if they run Biden again, that’s exactly what they will be doing.

For Joe is just too old.

Yes, I know America has something called ageism which liberals love to throw around, but as a senior citizen, I claim privilege.

I am not saying that Biden is not a good president. He certainly is when compared to the previous one.

But we old people need to acknowledge that while we like to tell ourselves that we don’t feel any different than when we were 30 or 40 or whatever, that’s just fooling ourselves.

I was a great driver and loved the road, but do you think I would take on the job of a ride share or school bus driver? Of course not, for I recognize that I no longer have the agility nor quick response capability to do such jobs safely or even stay on the road too long.

Biden is clearly aging fast in front of our very eyes and unless the Dems find someone suitable and soon, they will have served the majority of the people in the country badly.

Elections are all about popularity and the vast majority of people polled say they don’t want Biden as he is too old to run again. I agree totally.

Of course, a similar number say they don’t want Trump to run again, but even if he does (hopefully he will be locked up by 2024 for trying to steal an election!), he can be beaten by any good candidate.

For what good policies do Republicans have to swing the independent voters?

Absolutely none.

Another negative for the Biden rerun, is having Kamala taking over if he drops down dead or is incapacitated.

Harris is ineffective as VP for the only job she had was to deal with the border issue and look at the mess down there.

Anyway, she was not even popular with Democrats during the 2019 primaries, for whereas in February 2019 she had 12 percent of Democrat voters and after insulting Biden in the debates it rose to 15 percent, by December, she had to drop out as she only had 3 percent support!

Come Democrats, you can do better than that.

As it stands, the only person who seems anxious to take on Biden is vaccine denier, Robert Kennedy Jr. And although his only claim to fame is the Kennedy name, according to the Washington Post, he already has 19% favorability rating.

Cleary democrats are desperate for someone else if Kennedy can poll so well so quickly!

Anyway, in 1992, Democratic organizer extraordinaire, James Carville coined the phrase; ‘it’s the economy stupid’ and it's as true today as it was then.

That is also going to feature way up in the issues in 2024 and with a paltry 1% GDP growth in the last quarter, that’s no recommendation for Biden. And with the serious discussions at OPEC about replacing the US$ as their trading currency, bank failures, (First Republic Bank on the brink now) things do not appear too rosy for the US economy in the short run.

Democrats need to tell uncle Joe thanks very much for pulling back the USA from the edge of international isolation and madness in 2020, but with all the challenges ahead, the job has to be completed by someone younger.

Not him, not Kamala.
