Bicycle Lanes

Recently, Jamaican prime minister Bruce Golding in launching Caribbean Wellness Day, called on us to adopt healthy lifestyles.

I am all for the motivating speeches and healthy living, but I am even more for government policy that backs up the motivating speeches. For example, wouldnt it have been wonderful if when he made the call, the PM announced a government policy which would see his government putting in "bicycle lanes" each time a road is constructed or rehabilitated? Not only would this encourage healthier living and save lives but many of us would be quite happy to beat daily traffic jams by going about our business on bicycles.

Wouldn't that also tell us that the government is serious about cutting down on oil imports?

I suppose I live in a dream world where words and deeds coincide.
