Great food 😊

 Boy, am I glad I took in this event!

The food was really boonoonoonoos, especially the jerk pork and rice and peas made with green gungo😋.

The mannish water was good too but they never figured out how to keep it hot! They needed a big pot with coals underneath and then it would really sell aff, as we say a yard. 

I reconnected with friends too and surprise of surprises, my niece- in -law Lakshmi whom I hadn't seen for decades.

Hadn't seen her for years.

My Guyanese sister Marie came with me and enjoyed herself too .

Everything was there. Entertainment for the kids. Great food, music, and lots of Jamaican products.

I have to watch where I open my mouth for as I sat down under a tent and opened my mouth, a lady recognized my voice!🤣

I will be there next year for sure.

Zipping away

 I never knew I would ever go zip lining, as I hate heights. So much so that when we were in Ghana and took an excursion which included walking on 7 swinging bridges over the tree canopies, I did only one and turned back. 

My granddaughter did all seven.👏

There were 4 lines. This was the highest and longest.

Anyway, zip lining is fun.

 On 3 we had to run and swing and that was no problem. For the fourth, we had to climb up about fifty feet to the landing and I couldn't start off. It wasn't fear. I just never knew how to step off so I asked this young lady to push me off.

Lost my one of my slippers but a man climbed down and got it for me.

My granddaughter did it upside down!😲

It was really exhilarating.

This was in Kauai, Hawaii.

There was a final one called zip and splash. This is a short one like at our oun YS Falls where you hold on to a rope , slide to the middle of the river and let go. 

I wasn't interested in doing that in Hawaii, as the river looked dirty and cold. Besides the sun had gone in so I would have to contend with cold breeze on my body. 

That's ok. Been there, done that in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica, where the river is much nicer and the falls inviting.

Yup. Would do it all again.😊

Supporting the Krew

That's the Miami Krew Soccer Club. 

It was established in 2007 in Florida. The founder of the club is Mr. Pierre Hosang who has been playing and coaching soccer at various levels for 33 years.

Pierre, a graduate of FIU, is a member of a famous Marshall Jamaican footballing  family, whose members have represented Jamaica in the international  arena for decades.

    This club has built strong connections over the years, with Elementary, Middle,  High Schools, Clubs, and Colleges in Florida, so professional teams visit them regularly to recruit young, talented players in training.

 Some of their players have gone on to sign scholarships and contracts with colleges and professional teams, nationally and internationally.

We went to celebrate with the Krew at Palmetto Bay School grounds in Miami, where they hosted their annual family day.

Despite the inclement weather, it was fairly well attended. Both participants and well wishers were enthusiastic.

Jamaican food including festival, jerk chicken jerk pork etc, was

available for all.

The big feature of the day was the match between students and parents, but unfortunately, not that many fathers turned up.

It was enjoyable fun and games anyway.
